 ITU Triathlon World Series Grand Final

Hyde Park, a Royal Park, 11 – 15 September 2013
The vision for the Games was legacy and ensuring that future generations would continue to be inspired by world class sporting events and performances in London. On the 11 – 15 September 2013, London hosts the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final using an identical course and venue to that used in the London 2012 Olympic Games. 5,000 of the world’s best triathletes will return to the London 2012 Olympic Games venue as Hyde Park, a Royal Park, hosts the International Triathlon Union’s (ITU) most prestigious event, all fighting for world championship titles.

NFL International Series Game

Wembley Stadium, 29 September and 27 October 2013
Following the continued success of playing a regular season NFL game in London, at least one regular game has been fixed onto the London calendar for Wembley every season until at least 2016, with the Jacksonville Jaguars playing host for the International Series. A historic step for the NFL in the UK and for London, a second regular game has also just been announced in 2013 with the Minnesota Vikings will be the home team to the Pittsburgh Steelers on 29th September, whilst the Jacksonville Jaguars will begin their ground-breaking initiative at Wembley against the San Francisco 49ers on 27th October.

Rugby League World Cup Semi Finals

Wembley Stadium, 23 November 2013
The Rugby League World Cup is an international rugby league football tournament contested by national teams of members of the Rugby League International Federation (RLIF). It has been held nearly once every 4 years on average since its inaugural tournament in France in 1954. The 2013 competition will be held in England, France, Ireland and Wales[3] and will form part of the UK’s ‘Golden Decade of Sport. As a double-header at Wembley Stadium, the semi-finals day is set to be one of the biggest days in the 2013 sporting calendar as the best four teams in the world battle it out for a place in the Rugby League World Cup Final.

Six Nations Rugby

Twickenham Stadium, 2 February – 16 March 2013
The RBS 6 Nations, otherwise known as the Six Nations Championship, pits the best of European rugby union against one another annually with six sides all competing for the trophy – England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales. Reigning champions Wales will be looking to emulate the success of 2012 again in 2013, where they achieved both the Triple Crown – where a Home Nation (England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales) beats every other competing Home Nation – and the Grand Slam – where the team wins all its games in the competition. England host games will be played at the home of English Rugby, Twickenham Stadium in south west London.

BNY Mellon Boat race

Putney Bridge, 31 March 2013
March 31st 2013 will see the 159th Boat Race between crews from the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge. First raced in 1829 The Boat Race is one of the oldest sporting events in the world. Watched by thousands along the banks of The Tideway, between Putney and Mortlake in London and by millions more on TV around the world, The Boat Race is a unique sporting event. With two very strong squads of athletes, expect to see another great race this year.

2013 Virgin London Marathon

Across London, 21 April 2013
One of the most popular marathons in the world, the Virgin London Marathon will see over 45,000 runners from 150 different countries attempt the gruelling 26 mile course that takes in some of London’s most scenic sights. Those just planning to spectate can pick out a spot and soak up the race atmosphere anywhere between the start in Greenwich Park, a Royal Park, to the finish at Buckingham Palace. Over half a billion pounds has been raised for charities by runners since the first London marathon in 1981.

2013 UEFA Champions League Final

Wembley Stadium, 25 May 2013
The UEFA Champions League Final will return to London for the 150th anniversary of the FA in 2013. The announcement from UEFA is testament to the successful delivery of last year’s UEFA Champions League Final which saw a sell-out stadium and a record global audience of 300 million viewers tuning in to watch. This will be Wembley Stadium’s seventh European Cup Final after hosting the Final most recently in May of 2011.

Euroleague Basketball – Final Four

The O2, 10 – 12 May 2013
Euroleague Basketball and AEG will team up to bring the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four to a new home in 2013. After hosting the 2012 Olympic Games, London’s spectacular The O2 will remain the focus of international sporting attention as it turns its eyes to Europe’s premier basketball event.

Wimbledon Championships

All England Club, 24 June – 7 July 2013
The Championships, Wimbledon, “The Wimbledon Championships” or simply Wimbledon, is the oldest tennis tournament in the world, and widely considered to be the biggest and the most prestigious. It has been held at the All England Club – originally founded as the home of English croquet – in Wimbledon, London since 1877. It is one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments, the other three majors being the Australian Open, French Open and US Open. Wimbledon is the only Major still played on grass, the game’s original surface, which gave the game its original name of “lawn tennis”.

RideLondon

3 – 4 August 2013
A new annual, mass-participation cycling event will launch in London in 2013. The two-day cycling festival will allow families and amateur riders to take part, as well as attracting the world’s best elite cyclists. Saturday’s ride will be aimed at cyclists of all ages and abilities who want to enjoy the fun of cycling in a traffic-free environment. The route will pass many of Central London’s famous landmarks. Up to 70,000 participants are expected to take part. Sunday’s activities will appeal to the world’s top elite cyclists and amateur cyclists alike. The 100-mile route will start at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, taking in roads in London and Surrey and finishing in Central London.
