Hi Theatre-goers
Today is very exciting for me and Simon as we are off to the launch of Stephen Sondheim’s musical Merrily We Roll Along which is currently playing to full houses at the Menier Chocolate Factory theatre in Southwark, London.
Next month it’ll be moving into the West End to the Harold Pinter theatre for a limited West End run through the Spring and early summer.
The musical which spans three decades in the lives of three close friends famously flopped on Broadway back in 1981 after just 16 performances, but it has done a whole deal better this side of the big pond with rave reviews for it’s cast and directorial debut from Maria Friedman who we are more use to seeing belting out big show numbers such as ‘Mamma Mia’ and the ‘Joseph Mega Mix’.
I’ll tell you more next week when I’ve had the chance to watch some scenes from the show and will find out who the West End cast will be.
