11/9/12 The Old Vic presents

Hi Theatregoers

Anyone as tired as I am because they stayed up until 3am watching Andy Murray raise the US Open tennis trophy? Now that he’s done that and won an Olympic Gold Medal you will all definitely want to book to go to the ATP World Tour Tennis Final at the O2 in November.

Did you know that actor/director Kevin Spacey is a mad Murray fan and he was there watching his hero clinch the title. Kevin Spacey as I’m sure you know is currently Artistic Director at the Old Vic theatre in London. He has directed and starred in some awesome productions whilst being in charge and during the next few months there’s no exception.

First up will be an adaptation of Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler starring “actress of the moment” Sheridan Smith in the title role. It opens on 13th September.

Next up will be the iconic musical Kiss Me Kate featuring a brilliant score by Cole Porter which includes the songs I Hate Men,  Too Darn Hot,  Another Op’nin, Another Show and Brush Up Your Shakespeare. The 1953 MGM film with Howard Keel  is one of my all time favourites and I imagine with director Trevor Nunn’s guidance this new production is going to be spectacular. It opens on 20th November and the cast includes Alex Bourne, David Burt, Adam Garcia, Clive Rowe and Hannah Waddingham, with choreography by Stephen Mear.

2012 just keeps of getting better, don’t you think?

Have a good Tuesday everyone

Sara
